Live Stream Related Account Questions Misc. Questions How do I watch the live Vlaze.com stream?

Either visit the front page of the site (that "home" button at the top there) or - the preferred method - click the Watch M+ Live button in the header (right next to our logo). That will pop-up our full-sized player in a new window, so you can keep the stream going in the background while you cruise around the site.

Help! There's no stream!

First and foremost, you'll need to make sure you've got the latest version Windows Media Player installed. Click here to download/install Windows Media Player.

NOTE : For users of OS X 10.3 and above, we strongly recommend downloading the Flip4Mac Quicktime WMV Component, as Microsoft's Windows Media Player for Mac is no longer supported by Microsoft and we have verified 100% compatibility w/the Flip4Mac WMV Components.

We support all modern browsers which include : Internet Explorer (Windows) 5.5 - 7.0, Mozilla's Firefox (all platforms and release versions), Apple's Safari (all versions), and Opera 8.0+. There are known issues with the Macintosh version of Internet Explorer, IE 5.0 for Windows, and of course non-graphical browsers. We strongly recommend using Mozilla's FireFox browser on whatever your platform of choice is.

I SEE the stream, but I can't HEAR the stream

Let's run through the checklist here - have you checked to make sure you're able to hear audio from your computer at all? Try opening a known media file locally in your Media Player, or MP3 player (like Apple's iTunes). If you have no media files to test, and you're using Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP, click on the little speaker icon in your taskbar and click around in there, listening for sounds coming out of your speakers. Also make sure your speakers are actually powered on and the volume is turned up to a level appropriate for your listening preferences (it sounds obvious, but sometimes we forget to check little things like that).

If you're not getting any sound at all out of your computer, and you're using Windows 2000 or XP - click the speaker icon in your taskbar, and verify that your sound drivers are setup correctly. If you don't know what that means, here's a helpful document to explain it all.

Macintosh users, using Mac OS X, can check their system's sound control panel in "System Preferences" under the Apple menu in the left corner of the screen. Check through the panel to make sure all the volume sliders are turned up to their full capacity - and interacting w/these sliders should produce short audio beeps and clicks to verify your speakers are working properly.

If you're getting audio out of other media players on your computer, and you've checked your sound settings and checked to see that our embedded Windows Media Player stream's volume slider is at the maximum level - then perhaps you should try upgrading your Windows Media Player. You can upgrade Windows Media Player by clicking here

Barring all of the above... feel free to e-mail our support techs and describe your particular issue. We'll ask to make sure that you've actually exhausted ALL of the options provided above, and we'll need as much information about your setup as possible if we're to be of any help at all.

I HEAR the stream, but I can't SEE the stream

8 outta 10 times, this is a simple matter of having an out-of-date version of Windows Media Player. You can upgrade Windows Media Player by clicking here. Another of the possibilities could be that Windows Media Player is not configured correctly and you're actually viewing the stream via RealPlayer - in which case, a simple re-installation of Windows Media Player will solve your problems. The only other solution we know of is that our stream is having issues and will be resolved in as timely a manner as we possibly can.

Barring all of the above... feel free to e-mail our support techs and describe your particular issue. We'll ask to make sure that you've actually exhausted ALL of the options provided above, and we'll need as much information about your setup as possible if we're to be of any help at all.

What time is (show name) on in MY area?

We can't say for sure what time any show is on in YOUR area, but we do have a robust schedule page that lists all showtimes in our area (Los Angeles, CA). Since all times are PST, just compare the time on the official Vlaze.com clock to your time and do the math. Yes, we hate math too.

To access the schedule, simply click the "live Schedule" link at the very top of any page, and voila!

How do I add a show as a favorite?

One of two ways - if you're on a profile that lists a favorite show, simply click the icon and you'll see the show's bio. At the top, you'll find a link that says "Add this show as a favorite" - you click that and you're all set. The other way is to click the "Show Schedule" link at the top of the site and from there, navigate to the show you wish to make a favorite and click the show's icon and you'll be taken to the show's bio page. From there, again, just click the link at the top to add the show as a favorite.

I have/am an act, band, actor, comedian, performer and I wanna be on Vlaze! But how?

Well, the first step is to contact us via e-mail (you're looking for the programming department) and tell us a little about yourself/your act. From there, we'll explain how it works. Good luck!

I have an idea for a show - who would I talk to, and do you care?

Of course we care! We're always on the lookout for compelling content and because we're not ruled by some media conglomerate gestapo, we try to keep our ears to the ground for the latest and greatest. If you've got an idea for a show and want to pitch it - simply contact us (make sure to contact the programming department) and let's see what ya got!

How do I edit my profile?

Quite simply, just click the "Edit Profile" link to the right of your photo on your profile. You must, of course, be logged in to see that link and to use the page.

Any changes you make to your profile that you wish to have made permanently only go into effect once you click the "Save & Update Profile Changes" button at the bottom of the edit page.

Why do I have 3 friends, and who are they?

First and foremost, the profile for Vlaze is the hub of the site. The blog entries for this profile serve as news for what's going on w/our live shows, and much of the content within the profile are highlights from our live shows and our live concerts.

Mikey is our lead programmer. He's the one who programmed this massive site, and he can answer many questions you might have about the site. He's added as your friend for that reason, and because he's proud to put a friendly face on our site.

Mitcz is our lead designer. The layout and graphics on the site were designed by him and he's more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Since he's usually a bit more available than Mikey - we'd suggest going to him for any questions you may have about the site that aren't answered here.

Can I delete those default friends from my list?

Sure. It's your friend list. Delete whomever you want. We won't be offended.

How do I limit/arrange the friends that appear on my profile?

You would use our uber-nifty Friend Sorter. A quick video demonstration of how to use it is available right here.

How do I add/change my profile photo?

If you want a 1-minute video explanation, just click here. Otherwise, read these instructions :

As long as you're logged in and have at least one photo uploaded to your account, just click over to "edit my content", click "photos" to load your photos, select a photo you wish to use as your profile photo and click "use this as profile photo"

What are the limits on audio, video, and photo content?

We decided to start off with a nice round number : 100. That's 100 photos, 100 videos, and/or 100 audio files. At least, for now. One day this may change for better or worse.

For file sizes, we limit uploads to 120MB per file. This applies to video, audio, and image uploads. Just keep in mind that trying to process a 120MB image file might be a bit of overkill ;)

Just keep in mind that with our fancy Multi-Uploader, you can queue up to 300 files at once, set it to upload and go about your day/night/dinner plans and we'll let you know when everything's all done.

What file types do you accept for various content types?

VIDEO : Most common Quicktime-based and AVI files should work. This includes .mp4, .mpg, .mpeg, .avi, divx, .wmv, .m4a, .mov, .dv, and .3gp.

AUDIO : Currently, we're only accepting .mp3 files for audio. Sorry if this is an inconvenience for you, but there are a number of free applications that can convert CD audio, .aif, .wav files and the like to .mp3 format. For instance, Apple's iTunes player will convert any recognized audio file to .mp3 with a simple right-click from within the player.

IMAGES : The usual fare : .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .png.

If you're having trouble with a particular file, drop us a line and please include as many details as possible.

How do I edit/remove content?

Just use the built-in content editor on the "My Content" page. All the help you'll need on figuring that out is displayed on the right-hand side of the page in a help center.

Ah! Blogging is so confusing! What do I do?

There, there. It's gonna be okay. As long as you're logged in, simply click the "Add Blog" button in the userbar (at the top of the page) and all will be revealed via the built-in help center on the right-hand side of the page. It's really quite easy, though. Try it and see!

My question isn't answered here. What now?

Why don't you try whining about it a little more? I'm sure that'll help. Just kidding!

If you're truly stuck, you have 3 options. You can either message Mitcz (lead designer - this is the preferred route for questions/help), Mikey (lead programmer), or you can e-mail : help@vlaze.com and we'll do what we can for ya. Try to be as detailed as possible, so we may help you as best we can.
